There are few things I love more than planning a party. Fine-tuning the nitty-gritty details brings me an unbelievable amount of joy!
Because of Covid, Hattie couldn't really have a first birthday party, so I was extra excited to plan her 2nd birthday knowing we would have our families together for the first time along with some of our Kansas City friends!
Landing on the party animal theme was a no-brainer because two of Hattie's favorite things in the whole wide world are balloons and animals.
I found these super cute invitations on Etsy, and sent them out via Paperless Post. While I love a good printed invitation sent through my favorite snail mail, we wanted to get Hattie's invites out ASAP for our family traveling from Ohio and Indiana, so a Paperless Post made the most sense. If you haven't used Paperless Post, I HIGHLY recommend it! It is so user-friendly, keeps everyone's RSVPs organized, and even sends out reminders to your guests.
Using her invitation as our inspiration, I found a ton of cute party animal decor from Rifle Paper Co. whose stuff is always of amazing quality. I picked up some other coordinating napkins at our local party store.
I know monthly garlands are typical of a first birthday party, but I vow to do them forever! I'm sure I will eventually switch to a photo from each year, but toddlers grow and change so much within a year, and everyone always loves to see the progression.
I found the painted animals on Facebook Marketplace, then made a few of my own. They were adorable and really tied our theme together as we had them placed throughout the house!
We tried to keep food easy and ordered pizza served alongside some antipasti appetizers. I made Hattie's cupcakes using the cute liners from Rifle Paper Co. and had the best cut-out mini animal cookies made from my favorite Kansas City baker, Brittni, of Frosted KC! She also supplied paint your own cookies for Hattie's little friends to take home as a party favor! We also hired a balloon artist to come for an hour from The Fine Tooners, and he was a HUGE hit for the parents and adults alike!
You would think Hattie's photographer mom would have taken better photos (especially of her!), but the entire day was so busy, and the only photos we got were from other people along with a very-tired-looking-selfie we took of the three of us at the end of the night!
